ActivLives Boccia Tournament Follow up

On Sunday 27th July 2025, I attended the Activlives Boccia Tournament which was held at the Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre

This was my first time attending an event like this and so i was really keen to learn about how it all worked and how many people it took to bring an event like this together

One of my reasons for volunteering at an event like this was to learn as much as I could and to see if we could create a similar type of event back home in Gloucestershire.

My reasoning for wanting to create an event like this is to create more opportunities for my clients, most of whom live in the Gloucester/Cheltenham and so getting them to travel around 4hrs for an event is not feasible for most of them.

My two clients, Joe and Theo both did themselves very proud and came away with lots of useful learnings for the future. Whilst 4th place may not sound particularly glamorous on paper, they were in a very strong group of 5 teams, all of whom knew each other very well and had all practiced together before unlike Joe and Theo who had met for the very first time that day

Theo in the Middle of playing
Joe just after he played an amazing shot to secure his team the point in their end
Joe (and the back of Theos head) going up to collect their awards for finishing 4th on the day

My Overall Learning is that this was a really well run event and I look forward to the challenge of replicating a similar event in Gloucestershire
